Services

We are honored to serve our community with the following services that help strengthen the faith of the congregation.

Divine Liturgy

The Divine Liturgy, or Qiddase, is the most sacred service of our church and the very heart of our worship. This profound service is a re-enactment of the Last Supper and a commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. It is during the Divine Liturgy that we gather as a community to hear the Word of God, offer prayers, and participate in the Holy Communion. We believe that through the liturgy, we are transported to the heavenly sanctuary, where we worship alongside the angels and saints. It is a time to unite with Christ, receive spiritual nourishment, and draw closer to the divine.

Holy Communion is a powerful sacrament where the blessed bread and wine are mystically transformed into the actual body and blood of Jesus Christ. By partaking in this sacred meal, we are not just remembering Christ, but we are united with Him, receiving divine grace and the forgiveness of sins. This sacrament is the culmination of our spiritual journey, a direct and personal connection to our Savior. It is a profound mystery that offers us strength, spiritual healing, and the promise of eternal life.

Holy Matrimony is a beautiful sacrament through which a man and a woman are united as one, with their union consecrated by God. This service is a journey of two individuals who commit to building a holy family in the sight of the Lord. The church blesses this covenant, praying for the couple to live a life of faithfulness, mutual love, and spiritual growth. The union is a symbol of the spiritual bond between Christ and His Church, and it is through this sacrament that a new household becomes a vessel of grace in the world.

A Memorial Service is a solemn and comforting time for our community to pray for the souls of our departed loved ones. This service is a powerful reminder of our hope in the Resurrection and eternal life. We gather to commemorate their lives and offer intercessory prayers on their behalf, believing that the prayers of the faithful can help the souls of the deceased. It is a time for family and friends to find comfort in our shared faith, trusting that God’s mercy and grace will be extended to those who have passed on.

Confession is a sacred sacrament of repentance and reconciliation with God. It is a personal and confidential encounter with a priest, who acts as a witness and spiritual guide. During confession, we humbly admit our sins and express our genuine sorrow, seeking God’s forgiveness and a renewed spiritual path. This sacrament is a powerful tool for spiritual purification, lifting the burden of guilt and empowering us to live a life more aligned with God’s will. It offers a profound sense of peace and a fresh start in our relationship with our Creator.

Our weekly Bible Study is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Holy Scriptures and grow in your faith. We gather in a welcoming and communal setting to explore the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, often using an episode of the popular series The Chosen as our starting point. After watching an episode together, we engage in lively group discussions and a sermon that explores the biblical context and spiritual lessons presented in the show. This engaging approach allows us to connect with the timeless truths of the Gospels in a fresh and relatable way. Whether you are a long-time believer or just starting your spiritual journey, this is a perfect place to learn, ask questions, and be encouraged by fellow members of our church family.

Sunday School is a joyful and vibrant part of our church life dedicated to nurturing the faith of our children and youth. Our passionate teachers use engaging stories, hymns, and interactive lessons to teach our young ones about the Bible, the lives of the saints, and the core tenets of the Orthodox faith. It is a safe and loving environment where children can build strong friendships, learn the traditions of the church, and develop a personal relationship with God from a young age. We are committed to building the next generation of faithful believers who are proud of their Orthodox heritage.

Baptism is the foundational sacrament that marks a person’s entry into the Christian faith and the Body of Christ. Through the ceremonial immersion in water, a person is cleansed of original sin and is spiritually reborn as a child of God. This profound act symbolizes dying with Christ to sin and rising with Him to new life. Baptism is the first and most essential step toward salvation and the gateway to all other sacraments. It is a beautiful and joyous occasion that is celebrated by the entire community as a new soul is welcomed into the family.

In addition to our spiritual teachings, we are proud to offer Amharic lessons every Friday, taught by dedicated church volunteers. These classes are designed for children in elementary and middle school, providing them with a wonderful opportunity to learn the language that is central to our faith and culture. By learning Amharic, students can connect more deeply with the hymns, prayers, and traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. It’s a fun and engaging way for our young ones to embrace their heritage and grow in their understanding of the church.

Our church choir is a vibrant and dedicated group of followers of all ages who lead our congregation in worship through the beautiful art of mezmur (spiritual hymns). Guided by the ancient teachings of Saint Yared, the father of Ethiopian Orthodox church hymns, the choir practices diligently and delivers powerful performances every Sunday after Qurban (Holy Communion). The choir also plays a vital role in our church community by performing during all major church holidays and other special occasions like weddings, funerals, and graduations, enriching every service with their spiritual melodies.
